KIUNGA HAS MADE GREAT STRIDES IN 2021
NOVEMBER 2021
I am pleased to report that since its founding last fall, Kiunga has made significant measurable progress in improving the physical, emotional and financial well-being of people living with HIV in Isiolo, Kenya.
We have seen a 23% increase in support group participants. The number of kitchen gardens maintained by support group members for subsistence and income has doubled. And the number of group members participating in voluntary savings and loaning activities to help one another meet financial needs has more than doubled!
Each week, Kiunga helps over 450 people — and their families — to substantially improve their life circumstances. Our support groups provide the social and emotional support that encourages healthy behaviors and adherence to medication and combats the stigma that surrounds HIV. In addition, education and resources provided through the group meetings have improved access to nutritious foods and provided the tools people need to achieve socioeconomic stability.
This good work has been possible only because of the generous support of our donors.
We are thrilled by the impact we’re seeing and want to keep this momentum going. As we approach the end of the year, there are several opportunities for you to join us in giving to ensure we can do just that! We would be honored if you would consider supporting Kiunga again during this season.
November 30: givingtuesday
Be a part of a global generosity movement unleashing the power of radical generosity. GivingTuesday kicks off the season of giving and your gift to Kiunga will make a tremendous impact!
December 1: world aids day
Join people worldwide in the fight against HIV by showing support for people living with HIV and remembering those who have died from an HIV-related illness. Together we can: End Inequalities. End AIDS. (Learn more about Kiunga’s World AIDS Day plans.)
December 31: last day to make a tax-deductible gift
Kiunga, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) and every dollar you give is tax deductible! Make your gift before the end of the year and help us kick off 2022 with the resources we need to keep our support groups going strong.
To celebrate this special season of giving, a generous donor has committed to match the first $5,000 in donations we receive between now and the end of the year.
So whether you give on GivingTuesday, join us on World AIDS Day, make that last-minute deductible gift on December 31, or want to get a jump start on all of it and give now, your gift to Kiunga will count TWICE.
Mark your calendar to join us on a recognized day of giving — or go ahead and make your gift today. Either way, we would be so grateful for your partnership in this work.
With hope and gratitude,
Erin Todd
Executive Director & President, Kiunga, Inc.
